Coco Crisp of the Red Socks was handed a seven game suspension after Thursdays fight broke out with pitcher James Shields of the Rays. Eight suspensions were handed out. Three suspensions were to the Boston Red Socks players.

Coco Crisp’s suspension was the most severe. James Shield was suspended for six games.

The brawl broke out between the Red Socks and the Rays, when James Shield deliberately hit Coco in the leg with a pitch. Coco Crisp went after Shields at the mound. Shields swung at Crisp and Missed and the Coco landed James with a punch.

Immediately both teams the Red Socks and the Rays left the dugout and started a brawl on the field. After the field was regained control the Red Socks went on to defeat the Rays. The clean red widgets came through. The Red Socks and Rays will play each other again on June 30.

Coco Crisp appealed his suspension right away.
